DO YOU SEE ME?

'DO YOU SEE ME?' is a touching song which was written in the wake of some distressing events that caused Alys’ move away from Glasgow. Through song, Alys manages to express her emotions. It is simple yet affecting.

‘I hope that others can find solace in this song as it has helped me through so much this past year.’ - Alys

lyrics

Loneliness is just a voice,
Surrounding me without a choice
I knowingly feel the injustices we keep,
For what it’s worth on paper planes you see
Jammy dodgers and dodgems on cars,
Clowns in crowded rooms on the cards

Do you see me, lying on the ground?
That’s not me
You’ve mistaken me for you own frown, yeah
It’s me who wears the crown
Now I see it, for what it is

I’m fed up with the dust,
I’m fed up with the rust
Let’s cherish what we keep
and practice what we preach
I’m finding things boring, soaring out of control
But not me
I’m gonna keep things simple and free
Did you think you could take me to church and not be seen for the sinner you are?
You may as well have knocked me down in your car

Well do you see me, lying on the ground?
That’s not me
You’ve mistaken me for you own frown, yeah
It’s me who wears the crown
Now I see it for what it is

Well do you see me, lying on the ground?
That’s not me
You’ve mistaken me for you own frown, yeah
It’s me who wears the crown
Now I see it for what it is
