Hinterland / Y Gwyll Series One
Hinterland (called 'Y Gwyll' in Welsh) is an internationally successful crime drama inspired by the communities and landscapes of Wales, filmed in English and Welsh versions across the coast, countryside and streets of Abersytwyth.
Created by S4C, the series stars Richard Harrington and has been broadcast by BBC Four, throughout Europe and by Netflix.
All music for the series is by John Hardy in collaboration with Benjamin Talbott and Victoria Ashfield.
Hinterland / Y Gwyll was first broadcast in October 2013.
From The Guardian:
"Mathias, as is the way with the new breed of detectives, is intense, troubled and searching for redemption. The key to Hinterland is the landscape: beautiful, forbidding and secretive, it becomes a character in its own right."

Sunday Times
"A haunting soundtrack"
The Guardian
★★★★☆ "Streets ahead in terms of subtlety and sustainedmoodiness"
The Times
"It's a corker... there was a sense of capriciousness and subtle menace woven right through the production"
The Telegraph
"Elegant, intelligent and infused with melancholy, Hinterland is reminiscent of Inspector Morse at its best."
The Stage
"The most hotly-anticipated Welsh-language television event in years... dark, brooding and mysterious."
Wales Online
"The music also uses subtle melodic tones to perfectly convey the mood throughout."
